Haresfield Beacon and Standish Wood
Standish Woods and Haresfield Beacon are right next to each other, so you can park once and spend the day exploring. We walked a loop of the woods first, where we found stick dens, bike tracks and sooooo many butterflies. We also came across a log with loads of coins hammered into it, apparently they're know as wishing trees!
After a picnic lunch, we left the bags in the car and wandered out onto the beacon to see the views of Stroud and the River Severn. Honey and Ace found a little quarry area and made themselves a den, complete with stone sofa.
Parking? Free for National Trust members (just scan your card at the machine) or £1-£3 for on members.
Toilets? No.
Refreshments? Sometimes @offroadbean is there selling snacks and drinks, but not on the day we went. Check their page or DM them for details. I’m reliably informed that the Haresfield Beacon and Railway Hotel is also super close by and can offer food, drinks, views and passing trains! ❤️
