he world famous Tetbury Woolsack Races are back on Monday 26th May 2025! Watch individuals and teams run up and down the 1 in 4 gradient of Gumstool Hill in Tetbury with a 60lb woolsack on their back.

The event is a fabulous, fun, free day for the whole family. Our theme is a "Celebration of the Cotswolds", highlighting the history of the event, and showcasing local food, drink, businesses and entertainment. On the day we will have:
- the world famous Woolsack Races
- gourmet food vans selling delicious food and drinks
- market stalls selling local crafts and goods
- fairground with rides for young and old
- street performers and entertainers

Steeped in tradition dating back to the 17th century, the event was originally run from the pub at the bottom of the hill (The Royal Oak) to the pub at the top of the hill (The Crown). Over the years the event has evolved, to become a formal event, containing numerous races, stalls, and entertainment.
